TapmasterĀ® Vs. Touch Faucets: Comparing Clean

June 26, 2015

One of the most common questions we receive from new clients is the difference between touch faucets and Tapmaster®’s proprietary line of hands-free faucet controllers. In today’s blog post, we’re going to take a look at the ways in which the Tapmaster® provides a superior level of hygiene, cost savings, and environmental sustainability when compared to touch faucets.

Touch faucets allow the user to activate and de-activate water flow with a deliberate touch on the base of the faucet. Given the fact that the user does not need to place their hands on a handle multiple times, touch faucets do provide a more hygienic approach to hand washing than traditional faucets. That being said, touch faucets are not without their disadvantages.

Touchy Subject
Touch faucets require a very specific touch to activate water flow- not too hard, and not too soft. Finding this delicate balance can make touch faucets aggravating when seeking quick activation.

Hygiene Hazard
While it is possible to activate a touch faucet with your elbow, it can be tricky. This necessitates the use of fingers to activate the water, potentially spreading viruses and bacteria to the activation spot when washing your hands.
Run On
Recently, we heard from a client who previously had a touch faucet at home. During a trip away, his cat activated the water by accident- and left it running! Since touch faucets require the user to touch for activation and de-activation, they present a risk of flooding (or at the very least, wasting water!) if water flow is left turned on.

Batteries Beware
Touch faucets require frequent battery replacements to keep the faucet working- a drain on both your wallet and the environment.

Tapmaster®: A Better Solution
Unlike touch faucets, the Tapmaster® is activated by a gentle touch of the foot or knee, making the technology completely hands-free and far more hygienic. Also unlike touch faucets, Tapmaster®’s proprietary line of hands-free faucet controllers provide short bursts of water, meaning that the water can never be left running unintentionally. Made without the use of electricity or batteries, the Tapmaster® is powered by the existing pressure in your water lines- saving you money while saving the environment.
